Al Lurie Dies at Age 92

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the loss of our dear friend and former Of Counsel

Al [Alvin D.] Lurie, who died on November 17th, at the age of 92.   Al spent most of his professional career in private practice in New York, as a tax lawyer and pension and benefits specialist, and served for four years (1974-78) as Assistant Commissioner of Internal Revenue, in charge of Employee Plans & Exempt Organizations.   Al  had a quick wit, kind heart and great legal acumen. He was truly one of the most esteemed members of the ERISA bar with a myriad of accomplishments and honors including 2012 Honoree of the Year Award of The Society of Financial Services Professionals, 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award of the Employee Benefits Committee of the American Bar Association Tax Section and Who's Who in America .  Al will be deeply missed by our firm and our sincerest condolences go out to his entire family.

Al is survived by his children Jim and Tone, Jeanne, Marge and Jon; his grandchildren Katie, Sophia, David, Natalia and Erik; and great granddaughter Aayla.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 11 a.m. at Larchmont Temple, with interment immediately following at Mt. Hope.  The family will return to Larchmont Temple and receive friends and visitors in the Larchmont Temple Garden Room through the afternoon.

Contributions in Al's memory may be made to Larchmont Temple, earmarked for an Adult Education fund TBD.

Condolences may be sent to the Lurie Family:

13 Country Club Drive, Larchmont, NY 10538.
