Thomas E. Clark Jr., who leads the St. Louis office of The Wagner Law Group, has been invited to participate on a special panel of elite ERISA attorneys at the NAPA DC Fly-in Forum on July 18th. Tom will join other panelists to discuss trends in ERISA litigation, with an additional focus on compliance with the Best Interest Contract Exemption. The conference, in its fifth year, is an invitation-only event for the nation's highest-performing advisors. The best-of-the-best in the industry will look to Tom and his fellow panelists for guidance in helping their clients avoid litigation as they implement the Department of Labor's fiduciary rule.

Tom's background makes him the perfect choice to discuss the intersection of ERISA litigation and compliance best practices. He gained a unique perspective representing plan participants during his tenure at Schlichter, Bogard & Denton, a plaintiff's firm that filed the first modern excessive fee case in 2006 and over 30 since. There, Tom worked on landmark cases involving complicated ERISA fiduciary duties, such as Tibble v. Edison.  As a result of that experience, combined with his technical knowledge in one of the most complicated areas of the law, Tom is regularly retained by top service providers and plan sponsors to provide guidance on how to mitigate their fiduciary risk.  Recently, Tom's session at the Plan Sponsor Council of America's National Conference in Chicago was standing room only, and he received a rave review in a recent video from the "Retireholi(k)s" of the TPA firm Plan Design Consultants, Inc. (full video may be seen by clicking here).

The Wagner Law Group is currently celebrating the growth of our St. Louis office. Tom was recently made a partner, and the branch has moved to a new office in the suburb of Webster Groves, where the potential to grow is in line with our vision to offer the highest quality of legal services at reasonable rates, combining personalized attention, sophisticated solutions, and best practices for our clients, large and small.
